Christian Eriksen collapses during Denmark – Ukraine match, but reassures on his health
A major scare shook Danish football this Sunday during the friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine in Odense. In the second half, Christian Eriksen suddenly collapsed on the pitch after placing his hands on his chest.
Quickly surrounded by players and attended to by medical staff, the Danish midfielder was evacuated from the field. Given the apparent seriousness of the situation, the organizers decided to permanently halt the match.
A few minutes later, a reassuring message was displayed on the giant screens in the stadium: “The match is over. Christian Eriksen is, considering the circumstances, safe and sound.”
The Danish Federation then communicated the first news about the player through the national team doctor, Morten Boesen:
“Christian is doing well and left the field on his own. To my knowledge, the pacemaker is functioning as it should. He briefly lost consciousness, but he regained it very quickly, and we were able to make contact with him without delay. He now needs to undergo further tests at the hospital to determine the cause of this incident. We are in constant contact with him and with the hospital doctors. But Christian is fine, and he asked me to send his regards to all the players and to tell them he is doing well.”

After receiving initial care on the pitch, Eriksen stood up before making his way to the ambulance on his own. According to the stadium announcer, cited by several Danish media, “Eriksen is doing well considering the circumstances.”
This incident inevitably recalls the cardiac arrest the player suffered on June 12, 2021, during Euro 2020. Since that cardiac arrest, Christian Eriksen has been wearing a pacemaker, a device designed to monitor and regulate his heart activity.
