The Kylian Mbappé saga is set to shake up the transfer market once again. The behind-the-scenes battle between Real Madrid and PSG for the French genius is still in full swing.
With his contract set to expire in June, Kylian Mbappé is the focal point of this winter transfer window. According to our information, the PSG star, despite the possibility of joining any club, will not leave Paris for free.
Speculations about Kylian Mbappé’s decision fuel discussions: will he leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, free of any contract, to join Real Madrid? Will he extend his journey with PSG or opt for a new challenge? Answers to these questions are expected to emerge in the coming days.
Kylian Mbappé’s situation still pending
Currently, nothing is confirmed. The player himself admitted not knowing which team he will represent next season after Paris’s victory in the Trophée des Champions against Toulouse (2-0). Although Mbappé assured that he would finish the 2023-2024 season in Paris with great ambitions, the mystery persists regarding the future.
In recent weeks, PSG seemed rather confident about the Mbappé situation. The trend toward a possible extension appears consistent, especially as Real Madrid does not seem willing to meet the player’s salary demands.
According to information from 90min, Paris would not incur significant financial losses even if Kylian Mbappé joined Real Madrid as a free agent this summer. The reason for this is a legal agreement between KM7 and PSG, involving an amount of up to 80 million euros that Mbappé would repay in case of a free transfer departure. This amount equals the bonuses that PSG owed to Mbappé but would be waived in the event of his departure.
Although this agreement is in place, the reigning French champion remains confident in its chances of extending the contract of its star. If an extension occurs, it would be signed until June 2025 according to our information. This longer-term contract aims to protect the player’s market value, opening the possibility of considering a transfer.
Real Madrid already has plans for Mbappé
In this case, the financial aspect remains a key element, and money would be involved even if Kylian Mbappé is technically “free”. Moreover, on the side of Real Madrid, plans have already been made regarding the salary that the French player should receive.
Real Madrid positions itself as the favorite to welcome Kylian Mbappé. According to El Chiringuito, a highly popular show in Spain, the Merengues have expressed their desire to sign the player but not at any price. According to journalist Josep Pedrerol, “Kylian Mbappé’s heart tells him that his happiness is in Madrid next season.” Thus, the French international seems to believe that his future lies in Spain.
However, according to the information from the Spanish presenter, the exceptional offer made by Real Madrid two years ago would have expired, and the signing bonus of over 100 million euros for Mbappé would no longer be valid. The journalist claims that Real Madrid will not rush salary negotiations and will offer Mbappé half of his current salary, about 70 million euros.
Although the salary reduction might suggest an exceptional signing bonus, considering the free transfer for Real Madrid, Pedrerol rules out this possibility. He insists that the club, with its 14 Champions League titles, will remain reasonable in this matter and will not offer a signing bonus “of 100 or 150 million euros,” he specifies.
If these pieces of information are confirmed, the financial argument could play in favor of PSG in this saga. The question remains whether financial considerations will be decisive for Kylian Mbappé in the immediate choice of the next phase of his career.
