Transfer window: Amara Diouf’s new club revealed

After nearly two years on the sidelines, young Senegalese talent Amara Diouf, who just turned 18 on Monday, June 7, 2026, is back in training with Génération Foot. Crowned African U17 champion in 2023 in Algeria and named the tournament’s best player, he could soon continue his career at Fenerbahçe, with an agreement reportedly discussed between the player and the Turkish club.

In an interview with Africafoot, Badara Sarr, former coach of Casa Sports and Teungueth FC, spoke about the potential of the young forward, whom he considers one of the biggest hopes in Senegalese football.

The Return of a Highly Anticipated Talent

Amara Diouf made his mark during the 2023 U17 AFCON in Algeria, scoring five goals and breaking a record previously held by Victor Osimhen. He played a crucial role in Senegal’s victory over Morocco (2-1). According to Badara Sarr, the player was showing consistent progress before his injury.

Sarr emphasizes that Amara Diouf received solid training at Génération Foot and stood out with his performances in youth selections, even being named the tournament’s best player. Once considered a potential successor to Sadio Mané, he was then sidelined by a serious injury that kept him off the pitch for nearly two seasons. The coach describes him as a complete forward, capable of playing in multiple attacking positions, blessed with great speed, a keen eye for goal, and a strong work ethic.

A Move Towards Fenerbahçe

Courted by several top European clubs, including FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester City, Amara Diouf has reportedly chosen Fenerbahçe, with a contract running until 2030. The Turkish club is said to have offered a compelling project, as revealed by Africafoot.

Badara Sarr believes it’s still too early to judge this choice, while reminding that the Turkish league is demanding, marked by high intensity and significant pressure from fans. He insists on the need to protect the player upon his return, given his long absence, and to allow him the time to regain his best form without rushing.

Comparisons with Sadio Mané

Called up to the national team for the first time in August 2023, Amara Diouf made his debut with the Lions of Senegal on September 9, 2023, against Rwanda (1-1), becoming one of the youngest players in the history of the national team at just 15 years old.

Often compared to Sadio Mané, Badara Sarr believes the young forward has a promising profile. However, he points out that their paths differ, particularly due to their developmental stages in Europe. According to him, if Amara Diouf has a stable environment and appropriate support, he has the potential to pursue a top-level career.
