The events date back to May 15, during the match between Stade Briochin and Versailles. On loan from Olympique Lyonnais to the Breton club last season, Pierre-Antoine Dorival was sent off during the game. According to the report written by the central referee, the player allegedly approached him aggressively, leading to a face-to-face confrontation, forehead to forehead. The official also claims that the midfielder grabbed him by the lower back before delivering a particularly violent pinch. These accusations formed the main basis for the CFD’s decision.
However, a closer look at the case reveals several gray areas. During her hearing, the first assistant referee admitted she couldn’t directly observe the scene, explaining she was too far away to clearly see what happened. The official delegate for the match stated he only learned about the incident after the final whistle during a conversation with the referees. He acknowledged he was not a direct witness to the incident. The second assistant referee confirmed his colleagues’ statements but did not provide any new information or personal observations to clarify the facts.

He claims the reported events do not match what actually happened on the field. Moreover, footage of the match, still available on FFF TV, does not clearly confirm the central referee’s version. The disputed sequence is hard to see and does not accurately show the contact mentioned in the official report. The footage also seems to indicate that the match delegate was not watching the action when the incident allegedly occurred.
Despite these uncertainties, the Federal Disciplinary Commission concluded that no objective evidence contradicted the central referee’s statements. They decided to impose a firm two-year suspension, including the automatic match ban stipulated by the regulations. This sanction could significantly hinder the progress of the young Senegalese, who was previously seen as one of the hopes of his generation. His sporting future is now heavily compromised as he was trying to make his mark in French professional football.
