French striker Karim Benzema has kicked off a new chapter in his career by officially joining Al-Hilal on a one-and-a-half-year contract during this winter transfer window, after ending his commitment with Al-Ittihad due to disagreements over his contract renewal.
The transfer of the former Real Madrid star to the Saudi club has generated a lot of buzz, given his fame and vast experience on the biggest stages of international football. Benzema’s arrival at Al-Hilal has particularly excited his Senegalese teammate, Kalidou Koulibaly, who praised the signing and highlighted its significance.
“He’s a legend,” said the Al-Hilal defender about the French striker. “We knew he could bring us a lot. Benzema is an exceptional player, a true football legend. We will do everything to help him be in the best shape and contribute to our quest for titles.”
Koulibaly, also known as one of the “Lions of Teranga,” mentioned that he recently spoke with the newcomer and noted his excitement about joining this new adventure. According to him, Benzema’s presence will be a huge morale boost for the entire team.
“I answered the question of whether he could help us or not. He’s a legend and a player of exceptional class. He is extremely motivated,” added Koulibaly. “I spoke with him these past two days, and Alhamdulillah, he will be joining us. We will do everything to make him feel good at Al-Hilal and help us win trophies.”
Benzema is set to make his debut for Al-Hilal on February 5, during the 21st matchday of the Saudi Pro League, against Al-Okhdood.
