Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is facing an early return from injury in January and could feature in England’s FA Cup match against Liverpool.
The 29-year-old has been sidelined since Arsenal’s Champions League game against Sevilla after sustaining a muscular injury in training after the October international break.
He started working at the gym earlier this month and resumed grass training on December 22nd.
The exact timetable for Partey’s return to the first team remains unclear, but Arsenal remain optimistic about his availability for the FA Cup match against Liverpool on January 7th.
Thomas Partey has been selected in Ghana’s 55-man reserve squad for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in Ivory Coast next year.
Ghana coach Chris Hughton justified Partey’s participation and stressed the importance of the players joining the national team in January.
The final 27 members of AFCON will be announced on January 3rd.
In this tournament, Ghana will face Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique in Group B.
