Senegalese striker Mouhamed Wagne, seen as one of the recent rising stars in African youth football, is moving closer to a transfer to Belgium. The player, trained at Diambars de Saly, is attracting interest from several European clubs, but it’s Belgian club RSC Anderlecht that seems to have taken a decisive lead in this matter. According to multiple sources close to the negotiations, a preliminary agreement has already been reached between the Diambars training center and the Brussels club.
This progress comes just days after the player’s standout performances at the recent U17 Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco. Mouhamed Wagne shone with his offensive efficiency and ability to impact opposing defenses, actively contributing to the victorious run of the Lionceaux. His performances earned him a spot in the tournament’s best XI, alongside several of his Senegalese teammates, including Thierno Sow and Lamine Mbengue.

With a profile of a mobile striker, capable of playing between the lines and finishing actions with clarity, Wagne quickly caught the attention of European scouts present at the tournament. His positioning sense, dribbling quality, and maturity in play despite his young age were particularly highlighted. Several clubs expressed interest, but Anderlecht managed to position itself quickly to secure an agreement with his training club.
The sporting project proposed by the Belgian club focuses on gradually integrating the player into a structured professional environment, known for nurturing young African talents. However, despite this agreement between the two clubs, the transfer cannot be finalized immediately. Due to international regulations regarding minor players, Mouhamed Wagne will have to wait until he turns 18 to sign his first professional contract in Europe. The deadline is set for January 2027, when the operation could be officially completed.

In the meantime, the player will continue his development at Diambars, where he will benefit from technical and physical training aimed at preparing him for the transition to the top level. This additional time could also allow him to gain experience, improve his performances, and approach his future European challenge in optimal conditions.
Choosing RSC Anderlecht is also part of a historical continuity, as the club has previously welcomed several Senegalese players, strengthening the ties between the Belgian club and Senegalese football. If this deal comes to fruition, Mouhamed Wagne would join a path already taken by other talents from Senegalese training, with the ambition to reach a new level in his career.
