Senegalese supporters detained: FSF takes strong action without delay

Statement from the Senegalese Football Federation on the detention of supporters in Morocco

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) released an official statement on February 17, 2026, regarding the situation of Senegalese supporters currently detained in Morocco. This announcement was highly anticipated as many voices in Senegal have risen to condemn the provisional detention of these compatriots, arrested on December 18, 2025, in Rabat and still deprived of their freedom.

Mobilization at the highest level

The FSF assures that the situation is being “monitored with the utmost attention” and specifies that the State of Senegal is “fully mobilized.” National authorities are working closely with the relevant Moroccan institutions, respecting the “fraternal and historical” ties that unite the two countries.

Under the coordination of the Senegalese ambassador to Morocco, all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the respect of the fundamental rights of the detained supporters, to monitor their detention conditions, and to provide them with appropriate legal assistance.

Solidarity and a message of calm

Beyond the diplomatic aspect, the FSF reaffirms its solidarity with the supporters, whose “constant commitment alongside the national teams is recognized and appreciated.” The statement responds to a growing demand for transparency regarding the charges against them and the progress of the judicial process.

Confident in the ongoing diplomatic and legal efforts, the Federation believes that a “positive outcome” could occur “in the shortest possible time.” It also commits to keeping the public informed of any significant developments and calls for patience, solidarity, and trust in the actions being taken.

This statement comes symbolically after the 30th day of provisional detention for the supporters in Rabat. For several days, civil society actors, lawyers, and relatives of the detainees have been urging Senegalese authorities to address the duration of the proceedings and the conditions of the investigation.
